Stanisław Dróżdż (ur. 1939 r. w Sławkowie - zmarł w 2009 r. we Wrocławiu); w latach 1959-64 studiował filologię polską na Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim. Należy do najwybitniejszych przedstawicieli poezji konkretnej, prekursorów tego nurtu w sztuce polskiej. Utwory konkretystyczne zaczął tworzyć w roku 1967, od początku określając je autorskim terminem „pojęciokształty”. Oficjalnie zadebiutował w 1968 roku w Galerii „Pod Moną Lizą” we Wrocławiu. Od 1971 roku stale współpracował z Galerią Foksal w Warszawie, gdzie odbywało się większość premierowych pokazów jego dzieł. Wziął udział w ponad 300 wystawach indywidualnych i zbiorowych w Polsce i za granicą. Reprezentował Polskę na najważniejszych prezentacjach poezji konkretnej, sztuki współczesnej, sztuki konceptualnej za granicą, m.in. sound text – ?concrete poetry – visual texts w Stedelijk Museum w Amsterdamie (1970-1972), 50. Biennale Sztuki w Wenecji (2003) oraz Beyond Geometry, Experiments in Form, 1940s-1970s w County Museum of Art w Los Angeles (2004). Jest autorem antologii polskiej poezji konkretnej: Poezja konkretna. Wybór tekstów polskich oraz dokumentacja z lat 1967-1977, wydanej w 1978 roku. Prace Dróżdża znajdują się kolekcjach muzealnych i prywatnych w kraju m.in. Muzeum Narodowe we Wrocławiu, Muzeum Sztuki w Łodzi, Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej Zamek Ujazdowski w Warszawie i za granicą w Museum of Contemporary Art w Los Angeles, Schwarz Galeria d’Arte w Mediolanie, Museum of Modern Art w Hunfeld.
Stanisław Dróżdż (1939 - 2009); pioneer of the concrete poetry, a poet, an artist who focuses on the word and space, and a creator of concrete poetry. He treats his poetic/graphic artwork as an analysis of the reality of language, especially its visual forms. He studied Polish language and literature at Wroclaw University, graduating in 1964. At the turn of 1967/68, he began to produce concrete poetry. In 2003 Dróżdż represented Poland at the 50. International Biennale of Art in Venice with Alea Iacta Est / The Dice Has Been Cast. He focused throughout his career on the graphic possibilities for the visualisation of language, simultaneously searching for the reasons why it remains incapable of expressing reality. The artist also made it his mission to document achievements in the realm of concrete poetry. He was the creator of Concept Shapes - a type of concrete poetry inscribe in a broader context of visual poetry, which draws on elements of mathematics and logic. In 1979 he edited and published a book on Concrete Poetry from the years 1967-1977. He produced large spatial compositions, placing printed texts, symbols and numbers on gallery walls, floors and ceilings. These effectively become complex interpretations of the written sign and evoke various associations.
