Tomasz Matuszak (ur. 1967 w Łodzi); studiował na wydziale grafiki Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Łodzi. Dyplom uzyskał w 1993 roku. Od 2008 roku jest pracownikiem dydaktycznym w pracowni rzeźby na Wydziale Tkaniny i Ubioru w ASP w Łodzi. Prace artystyczne prezentował na wielu wystawach indywidualnych i zbiorowych m.in. w Galerii Imaginarium w Łodzi, Galerii Wschodnia w Łodzi, Galerii Kont w Lublinie, The Arab-Jewish Center, Haifa, Izrael, Galerii Manhattan w Łodzi, Galerii Arsenał w Białymstoku, Galerii Kronika w Bytomiu oraz brał udział w wystawach w Niemczech, Bułgarii, Izraelu, Szwecji. Był stypendystą Artslink - Nowy York, Schloss Solitude - Studgartt i ART/OMI - USA. Mieszka i pracuje w Łodzi.
Swoją pracę prezentowaną w Galerii AT Tomasz Matuszak tak określa: "Memory War jest dla mnie rodzajem zmanipulowania pamięcią w celu upowszechnienia 'dokumentacji' z procesu 'zacementowania' treści lub inaczej zawartości (w tym wypadku być może mało istotnej) wnętrz wystawianych obiektów. Bierze się to z ciągłego zainteresowania następstwami świadectw (dokumentacji) i odtwarzania historii i implikacjami życia w iluzji poglądów na jej temat. Nie ma wyjścia. Historia nie jest nauką ścisłą i zależy od interpretacji. Traktowanie jej w performatywny sposób kusi łatwością nadużyć i przekłamań. Chęć zdobycia przewagi na polu wersji prawdy obowiązującej społecznie skłania do działań w stylu "betonowania" - najlepiej na zawsze - pewnej wersji lub interpretacji wydarzeń. Nie posiadając dostępu do oryginałów wydarzeń tworzymy paradygmaty na bazie niepełnych lub wręcz fałszywych świadectw."
Tomasz Matuszak (born 1967 in Łódź) studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, graduating in 1993. Since 2008, he has been a teaching assistant in the Sculpture Studio at the Faculty of Textiles and Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. He has presented his artwork in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Imaginarium Gallery in Łódź, the Wschodnia Gallery in Łódź, the Kont Gallery in Lublin, the Arab-Jewish Center in Haifa, Israel, the Manhattan Gallery in Łódź, the Arsenał Gallery in Białystok, and the Kronika Gallery in Bytom. He has also participated in exhibitions in Germany, Bulgaria, Israel, and Sweden. He has received scholarships from Artslink (New York), Schloss Solitude (Studgart), and ART/OMI (USA). He lives and works in Łódź.
Tomasz Matuszak describes his work, presented at the AT Gallery, as follows: "For me, Memory War is a form of manipulation of memory in order to disseminate 'documentation' of the process of 'cementing' the content (in this case, perhaps insignificant) of the interiors of exhibited objects. This stems from a constant interest in the consequences of evidence (documentation) and the reconstruction of history and the implications of living within the illusion of views about it. There is no way out. History is not an exact science and depends on interpretation. Treating it in a performative manner tempts with the ease of abuse and distortion. The desire to gain an advantage in the field of the version of truth that is binding on society leads to actions such as 'concreting'—ideally permanently—a certain version or interpretation of events. Without access to the original events, we create paradigms based on incomplete or even false testimonies."
